It's Beautiful at the End of the World

Just a quick post today. Saw this over on digg and thought it was a gorgeous piece of photography. It's also a pretty much what the end of the world would look like. Those are 8 independent nuclear warheads striking the ocean at over 4000 miles per hour. Horrifying and beautiful gallery of similar pics here. Explanation below.

The lines shown are the re-entry vehicles -- one Peacekeeper can hold up to 10 nuclear warheads, each independently targeted. Were the warheads armed with a nuclear payload, each would carry with it the explosive power of twenty-five Hiroshima-sized weapons.
