Lego MMO, Hell Yeah

A Lego MMO. How freakin' awesome is that? 2008 may be the year that WoW finally gets beaten in the total number of users department. Who doesn't want to play this game? Who raised their hand? No one? Exactly!

BILLUND, DENMARK - March 5, 2007 - The LEGO® Group today announced it has commenced a working relationship with NetDevil® to develop a massively multiplayer online gaming experience to further engage its dedicated and active community.
"As children around the world continue to spend more time online we are developing new and engaging ways for them to interact with our brand," said Lisbeth Valther Pallesen, Executive Vice President, Community, Education and Direct Division LEGO Group. "The LEGO brand represents construction, creativity and problem solving - values that compliment the MMOG market. By merging the online world of social interaction with physical play, the LEGO brand is providing new experiences for children, as well as fans. NetDevil’s technological capability, openness to work with a large community, and their enthusiasm for the LEGO brand made them a natural partner."

"Playing with LEGO bricks and developing online worlds are both creative activities. To bring them together is deeply professionally satisfying and we look forward to working with the LEGO team," said Scott Brown, President of NetDevil.
NetDevil had better not screw this one up (a la their last outing Auto Assault) or they are all going to be murdered in their sleep by hordes of angry Lego fanatics.

Give Us Your Alien Tech, Eh

In a story that is bound to grant Canada with even more credibility a former Canadian Defense Minister is demanding world governments turn over any and all alien technology in order to see if it will help fight global warming.

"I would like to see what (alien) technology there might be that could eliminate the burning of fossil fuels within a generation ... that could be a way to save our planet," Paul Hellyer, 83, told the Ottawa Citizen. "We need to persuade governments to come clean on what they know. Some of us suspect they know quite a lot, and it might be enough to save our planet if applied quickly enough," he said.

In unrelated news, Hellyer was disintegrated by a strange beam of light while getting his morning paper today.

I Hate the PS3 But This Is Rad

Coming soon as a downloadable, this game looks like a more awesome version of RC Pro AM, and who doesn't want that. Just don't try to download it in the background.

Final Fantasy XII DS: Revenant Wings

Pushing the DS to the next level, and with an awesome franchise. Coming to Japan in May, hopefully to the states soon afterward.

Ummm...what?

I don't want to feed the fuel of the Anna Nicole tire fire, but this has to be seen to be believed. She is 8 months pregnant and high on mushrooms. Oh and the video is filmed by Howard K. Stern. Amazing parents there, amazing.

Aparently, George Lucas is a Bigger Idiot Than We Thought

Give it up, George

From Cinematical:
On Wednesday of this week, entertainment blogger David Poland threw up a rather perfunctory account of the Publicist's Guild luncheon: "I kinda like this particular high-school event. There is no pressure on me to report. I am comfortable knowing that this is a group that will never nominate me for their journalistic award." But pressure or no, he did report one item of interest, two days late. Yesterday afternoon, Poland tossed in an update on the lunch that he forgot to dole out originally: "George Lucas, giving the award to Sid Ganis, who was the in-house publicist on Star Wars: Episode Five - The Empire Strikes Back, said, 'Sid is the reason why The Empire Strikes Back is always written about as the best of the films, when it actually was the worst one.'"
Are you kidding me? Can you name one person who thinks this? Empire is by far the best film of the series in nearly every way. I have just lost my remaining sliver of hope in the Star Wars franchise. Someone please take this guy out before he ruins Indiana Jones as well.

Mooninites 1, Boston 0

And my home town is apparently full of idiots. Ignignot and Err are laughing all the way to their moon base. This media frenzy is the new record for idiocy. The new MOON record! I am glad that these two put the media in their place. Also they totally forgot the 70's haircut mainstay, the afro!

Can you see this Boston? I am doing it as hard as I can!

HBO Makes One Great, One Terrible Decision

HBO has decided to drop the Rome series after this current season. Apparently the cost was just to high. This is really unfortunate, as Rome was a spectacle to behold. Everything about it screamed authenticity, and the price tag was in my opinion, worth it. It's not like they had terrible numbers, and it was critically acclaimed. I am disappointed to say the least.

But I just heard that HBO has picked up George R.R. Martin's Song of Fire and Ice and is going to create a new series based on those excellent four (and counting) books. I am a bit worried that because the books are so long, and HBO's season runs are only 13 episodes, that too much will get cut from the books. But if anyone can pull this off, it is HBO. I highly recommend picking up at least the first book in the series A Game Of Thrones. The series seems to have lost its way as of late, but the first two books are amazing. I can't wait to see Ned with his brutal sword Ice or Jon Snow manning the Wall with his dire wolf. I am sure that once the series comes to TV the same words will be on everyone's lips.

Winter is coming...

Kick Ass Toy, Terrible Music

This is a seriously cool toy to play with if you own a motorboat. The music the video is set to, however, will make your ears liquefy and dribble down your neck in a horrible gelatinous mass. Sorry, it can't be helped. I suggest turning the sound off as a precaution.

Damn, I wish I could get my hands on one of these.

It's Beautiful at the End of the World

Just a quick post today. Saw this over on digg and thought it was a gorgeous piece of photography. It's also a pretty much what the end of the world would look like. Those are 8 independent nuclear warheads striking the ocean at over 4000 miles per hour. Horrifying and beautiful gallery of similar pics here. Explanation below.

LGM-118A Peacekeeper missile system being tested at the Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands.

The lines shown are the re-entry vehicles -- one Peacekeeper can hold up to 10 nuclear warheads, each independently targeted. Were the warheads armed with a nuclear payload, each would carry with it the explosive power of twenty-five Hiroshima-sized weapons.

Been too long, Awesome iPhone

Ok, so I haven't posted since Christmas Eve. Let's just say, Christmas was great, it was good to see my family and now I am back home. Everyone caught up? Good. Not much to post today except the freaking AWESOME Apple iPhone that was announced today at MacWorld (just across the bay from where I sit).

Check the pics from Engadget.
